HOUSE IN RUA DAS PALMEIRAS

Quinta da Marinha, Cascais, Portugal 2014

The lot presents an established and well-kept garden with very interesting vegetation, including mature trees.

The intervention proposal uses the existing garden, taking advantage of its positive aspects, creating comfortable trails and terraces. This proposal gives the garden greater organization and diversification, creating areas with different functions such as paved places to stay that are sunny or shaded, sheltered or open to the garden.

Over the grass, stone slabs create trails and platforms, with large or closed joints. The edge of the pool will be redone becoming part of this slab system and its lining will be changed to a material that will connect with the rest of the intervention.

Integrated in one of the stone platforms, a stand with a sink is proposed to support the mobile barbecue and, next to the service entry, a set of clotheslines is installed. This service area is screened from the rest of garden by stretching the hedge until the building.
